چکیده

A computer controlled contaminant detection systems based on high-Tc Superconducting Quantum Interference Device (SQUID) for food and drink have been designed and constructed. The systems we have developed are the High-Tc SQUID based systems, which are covered with waterproof stainless steel plates and acceptable to HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) program. One system is for foods and the other is for beverages. The systems employed double-layered permeable metallic shield plates as a magnetically shielded box. The distribution of the magnetic field in the box was simulated by FEM; the gap between each shield layer was optimized before fabrication. Then the shielding factor of more than 700 in Z-component was achieved. This value is good enough to operate the system in a factory. As a result, we successfully detected a steel ball as small as 0.3 mm in diameter by ether of the system. We believe that these systems are the fist practical SQUID based metallic contaminant detectors for food and beverages.

Prototype of Multi-Channel High-Tc SQUID Metallic Contaminant Detector for Large Sized Packaged Food

We report on the fabrication of a magnetic metallic contaminant detector using multi-channel high-Tc RF-SQUIDs (superconducting quantum interference devices) for large packaged food. For food safety finding small metallic contaminants is an important issue for a food manufacturer. Hence, a detection method for small sized contaminants is required. Some detection systems for food inspection usin...

Novel excitation coils for non-destructive evaluation of non-magnetic metallic structures by high-Tc dc SQUID

A non-destructive evaluation (NDE) system was set up in our laboratory. A high-Tc dc superconducting quantum interference device (dc SQUID) made from YBa2Cu3O7−δ thin film on a 24◦ bicrystal SrTiO3 substrate was adopted as the magnetic flux sensor. Novel excitation coils and a balance circuitry were proposed and employed for evaluation of multilayer aluminium structure with artificial slits in ...

THESIS FOR THE DEGREE OF DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY Development of high-T c SQUID magnetometers for on-scalp MEG

This thesis describes the development of high critical temperature superconducting quantum interference device (high-Tc SQUID) magnetometers based on bicrystal grain boundary and nanowire junctions for the potential use in on-scalp magnetoencephalography (MEG), which is a new generation MEG technique with reduced sensor-to-subject standoff distances. MEG is a method of mapping neural dynamics i...
